White Sox take the 3rd game of the series (Cleveland, Ohio) – After the ups and downs of the turnouts of yesterday’s games, the White Sox were ready to play ball today. In the bottom of the of the first inning, White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease took the mound to throw out for the Sox. Indians batter Jose Ramirez grounded into a double play to send the game into 2nd inning. There was no damage dealt by either team in the 2nd inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Cease struck out 3 batters in a row to move the game into the 4th, where Cease once again struck all 3 Indians batter out. In the top of the 5th inning, White Sox batter Luis Robert crushed the 3rd pitch that was thrown to him to center field for a solo home run. Cease closed the 5th with no damage done. By the end of the 5th, the Indians trailed the White Sox 1-0.
White Sox Take the Lead
In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox batter Jose Abreu reached on a fielding error by Indian’s 3rd basemen Jose Ramirez. The next play was the final out of top of the 6th and sent the game into the bottom of the 6th. In the bottom of the 6th, White Sox Pitcher Ryan Burr replaced Cease at the mound to close the inning with a strikeout. Soon after, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer replaced Ryan Burr at the mound in the bottom of the 7th. In the bottom of the 8th, White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel took the mound for Bummer to throw for 3 consecutive strikeouts. In the top of the 9th inning, White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez grounded into a double play that the Indians defense picked up on to advance the game. In the bottom of the 9th, White Sox closer Liam Hendriks replaced Kimbrel to close the game with a strikeout and 2 groundouts.
