White Sox crush Astros in 3rd game of the Divisional series (Chicago, Illinois) – In the 3rd game of the Divisional Series with the White Sox down 2 wins, the Sox put Dylan Cease at the mound to throw the first pitch. In the bottom of the 1st inning, White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez singled on a line drive to center field for an RBI and the first run of the game. The Astros retaliated when Astro’s batter Kyle Tucker hit a 2-run double to take the lead over the White Sox. Soon after, Astros batter Jake Meyers grounded a single for an RBI. White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech took the mound to replace Cease to get the final out. By the end of the 2nd inning, the White Sox trailed the Astros 3-1. In the top of the 3rd inning, Astros batter Kyle Tucker took the mound to crush a 98.4 MPH fastball to left field for a 2-run home run. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, White Sox batter Yasmani Grandal crushed a ball to left field for a 2-run home run. Soon after, Leury Garcia hit a 96.2 MPH fastball to center field for a 3-run home run. By the end of the 3rd inning, the White Sox took the lead 6-5.
A Tight Game
In the top of the 4th inning, Astros batter Alex Bregman grounded a ball to center field for an RBI single to tie the game. In the bottom of the 4th, White Sox batter Jose Abreu hit a grounder to center field for an RBI single as well. Soon after, Yasmani Grandal reached on a fielder’s choice for an RBI. Next batter up was Eloy Jimenez who hit a 2-run single. By the end of the 4th inning, the White Sox took the lead with the score at 9-6. In the top of the 5th inning, White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera replaced Kopech for a lineout, groundout, and a strikeout. In the top of the 7th inning, Tepera was replaced with Aaron Bummer to throw for 3 consecutive strikeouts. In the top of the 8th inning, White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel replaced Bummer. In the bottom of the 8th inning, White Sox batter Andrew Vaughn doubled on a line drive to left field for an RBI double. Next batter up was Leury Garcia who hit an RBI double as well. Soon after, Tim Anderson hit a single RBI to center field for the 3rd run of the inning. By the end of the 8th inning, the White Sox held a heavy lead with the score at 12-6. In the top of the 9th inning, White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks replaced Kimbrel for a lineout and 2 strikeouts to close the game. The White Sox beat the Astros 12-6.
