The Yankees beat the White Sox in extra innings in Chicago (Chicago, Illinois) – After the White Sox won the Field of Dreams game against the Yankees, both teams traveled to Chicago to play again. The White Sox wanted to keep the momentum going so they started with White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease at the mound. In the top of the 1st, Yankees batter Aaron Judge was out on a sacrifice fly for the first run of the game. Next batter up was Joey Gallo, who homered to right field for another run. In the bottom of that inning, White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez grounded out, but Tim Anderson was able to make it home for the White Sox first run. The White Sox trailed the Yankees 2-1 by the end of the 1st inning.  In the bottom of the 2nd, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a solo home run to center field to tie the game at 2-2 by the end of the 2nd. In the top of the 3rd inning, Yankees batter Aaron Judge hit an RBI double to take the lead over the White Sox. In the bottom of that inning, White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez retaliated with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3-3 by the end of the 3rd.

A Fight for the Lead

The 4th and 5th inning consisted of many strikeouts and pop outs, and the Yankees caught the White Sox in a double play to close the 5th. In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox Pitcher Garrett Crochet replaced Cease after 103 pitches. In the top of the 7th, White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera took the mound for Crochet. In the top of the 8th, White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel replaced Tepera at the mound, and then immediately threw a 95.7 mph fastball that was launched by Aaron Judge for a solo home run. In the top of the 9th inning, White Sox pitcher Matt Foster took the mound and threw for no damage. In the bottom of the 9th, White Sox batter Jose Abreu homered on a fly ball to center field to tie the game once again.

The game went into extra innings. In the top of the 10th inning, White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks took the mound and gave Aaron Judge an RBI single. The next batter up was Yankees batter Joey Gallo, who crushed a 2-run homer to right field. With 1 out, Hendriks was replaced with Jose Ruiz. Ruiz closed the top of the 10th with 2 groundouts.  The Yankees took a strong lead going into the bottom of the 10th, with the score at 7-4 Yankees. White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a single RBI that brought the score to 7-5 Yankees. White Sox batter Seby Zalava lined out, while Tim Anderson grounded into a force out that closed the game. The Yankees beat the White Sox 7-5.
