The White Sox take heavy beating against Astros (Chicago, Illinois) – After the long break, the Chicago White Sox were home to face the Astros.  White Sox pitcher, Dylan Cease, took the mound to throw the first pitch.  In the bottom of the 1st White Sox batter, Yoan Moncada, hit a line drive along the left field foul line for an RBI double to cement the White Sox first run.  At the end of the 1st inning the White Sox led 1-0.  In the top of the 2nd inning Cease struck out 3 consecutive batters.  In the top of the 3rd Astros batter, Yuli Gurriel, hit a 2-run double and took the lead over the White Sox.  In the top of the 5th Astros batter, Michael Brantley, homered deep to right field.  The Astros extend their lead over the White Sox 3-1 by the end of the 5th inning.

A Tough Inning

In the top of the 6th White Sox pitcher, Codi Heuer, relieved Cease after 104 pitches.  Heuer only lasted one inning until White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer, took his place.  two singles, a walk, a hit by pitch walk, and an RBI later, Bummer was replaced by, Jose Ruiz.  Ruiz then threw a ball to Astro’s batter, Myles Straw, who hit a 3-run double.  At the end of the very long 7th inning the score was 7-1 Astros.  In the top of the 8th, Reynaldo Lopez took the mound for Ruiz.  Lopez threw for a strikeout, flyout, and lineout in the top of the 9th.  The Astros defense told a similar story in the bottom of the 9th.  The Astros beat the White Sox 7-1 in the first game of the 3-game series in Chicago.
