The Houston Astros edge out the Chicago White Sox (Houston, Texas) – The first pitch was thrown in Houston’s Minute Made Park at 7:10 pm with Astro’s pitcher, Luis Garcia, who took the mound. Garcia gave White Sox’s first baseman, José Abreu, an RBI single for an early lead for the White Sox with a score of 1-0 at the top of the 1st. Sox catcher, Zach Collins, was caught stealing second base by Astro’s catcher, Martin Maldonado, who quickly threw to Astro’s second baseman, Jose Altuve, in the top of the second. White sox pitcher, Carlos Radon, walked Astro’s batter, Maldonado, with four consecutive balls for an RBI walk, that brought the score to 1-1 in the bottom of the 5th.

Tired Pitchers

Garcia had hit his 8th strikeout of the night on Collins, at the top of the 6th. Rodon had thrown his 8th strikeout of the night, on Astro’s outfielder, Myles Straw, at the bottom of the 7th. Sox pitcher, Codi Heuer, took the mound to relieve Radon to a 3 and out, in the bottom of the 8th. White Sox right fielder, Adam Engel, second baseman, Danny Mendick, and Collins all struck out swinging at the top of the 9th. The Chicago White Sox decided to swapped pitchers again for the last inning to White Sox’s closing pitcher, Garrett Crochet. At the bottom of the 9th, Astro’s first basemen, Yuli Gurriel, hit a single to center field, which applied pressure on fresh armed Crochet. Two pitches later to Astro’s outfielder, Yordan Alvarez, Alvarez caught a good angle on one of Crochet’s sliders for a walk-off double. The Houston Astros beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 Astros in the bottom of the 9th.
