White Sox take the Win in the Field of Dreams with a walk off homerun (Dyersville, Iowa) – In the “Field of Dreams Game” today against the Yankees, the White Sox wanted to start the game with their best foot forward with White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn at the mound. In the bottom of the 1st inning, White Sox batter Jose Abreu crushed a homer over the left fence. The White Sox cemented the 1st run of the game by the end of the 1st.  In the top of the 3rd inning Yankees batter Aaron Judge hit a 3-run home run to right field that brought the score to 3-1 Yankees going into the bottom of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd, White Sox batter Tim Anderson hit an RBI double on a line drive to left field.  Soon after, Eloy Jimenez crushed a home run with 2 men on bases that brought the score to 5-3 White Sox. In the bottom of the 4th, White Sox batter Seby Zavala hit a 2-run homer to right field. By the end of the 4th inning, the Yankees trailed the White Sox 7-3.  In the top of the 6th inning, Yankees batter Brett Gardner hit a line drive to right field for a solo home run that closed the lead to 7-4 White Sox.

A Narrow Escape

Soon after, White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech relieved Lynn who closed the inning with a groundout and 2 strikeouts. In the top of the 7th inning, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer replaced Kopech at the mound. At the beginning of the 8th inning, White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel took the mound for Bummer. In the top of the 9th inning, White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks took the mound in an attempt to close the game. Aaron Judge then hit a 2-run home run that narrowed the score to 7-6 White Sox.  Yankees batter Giancarlo Stanton then homered a line drive to left field for a 2-run home run and finally took the lead over the White Sox.  The score was 7-8 Yankees going into the bottom of the 9th.  In the bottom of the 9th inning, Tim Anderson crushed a 2-run homer to right center field for the walk off home run. The White Sox beat the Yankees 9-8.
