White Sox take last game of the city series (Chicago, Illinois) – In the final game of the city series, the White Sox started with Dylan Cease at the mound to throw out the first pitch of the game. In the bottom of the 1st inning, White Sox batter Luis Robert crushed a ball to left center field for a solo homer to put a run on the scoreboard. The White Sox took an early lead with the score at 1-0 going into the 2nd inning. In the top of the 2nd, the White Sox picked up on a double play to shut down the Cubs offense. In the bottom of the 2nd, White Sox batter Brian Goodwin hit a 2-run home run to left field to extend the lead.  The Cubs trail the White Sox by the end of the 2nd inning with the score at 3-0.  In the top of the 4th inning, Cubs batter Frank Schwindel hit a solo homer to left center field for the first run for the Cubs.

A Long 5th Inning

In the bottom of the 5th inning, a White Sox batter hit a ground-rule double on a line drive to center field that brought in 2 runs. Next batter up was Eloy Jimenez, who launched a ball to right field for a 3-run home run. Jake Lamb then singled just to be brought home by a homer hit by White Sox batter Yasmani Grandal. By the end of the long 5th inning, the White Sox pulled away with the score at 10-1 White Sox.  In the bottom of the 6th, Luis Robert hit a 2-run home run to extend the lead over the Cubs at 12-1. In the top of the 7th, White Sox batter Ryan Tepera replaced Cease at the mound after 108 pitches, and threw for a pop out, lineout and a flyout. In the bottom of the 7th, White Sox batter Brian Goodwin grounded into a force out, but managed to sneak in a run. The White Sox held a heavy lead going into the 8th inning with the score at 13-1. In the top of the 8th, White Sox pitcher Michael Kopch took the mound just to be replaced in the top of the 9th with Liam Hendriks in hopes to close out the game. Hendriks threw for a flyout and 2 strikeouts to close the game. The White Sox beat the Cubs 13-1.
