White Sox narrowly beat the Tigers (Detroit, Michigan) – After traveling to Detroit, the White Sox, were tired to start with, getting caught in a strikeout double play in the top of the 1st inning. In the bottom of the 1st, White Sox batter Dallas Keuchel took the mound to throw for no damage. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Tigers batter Akil Baddoo singled on a sharp line drive to left field for an RBI and the first run of the day. By the end of the 2nd, the White Sox trailed the Tigers 1-0. In the top of the 4th inning, White Sox batter Yasmani Grandal launched a home run to center field to tie up the game at 1-1.  Soon after, Cesar Hernandez hit a 2-run double to left field. Next batter up was Zack Collins, who singled on a line drive to right field. Next up was Luis Robert, who doubled to center field for an RBI. By the end of the 4th inning, the White Sox pulled ahead with the score at 6-1 White Sox.  In the bottom of the 5th, Tigers batter Jonathan Schoop hit a solo home run to left field. By the end of the 5th inning, the Tigers had their eyes on the White Sox with the score at 6-2 White Sox. 

Tigers Determined to Keep Up with White Sox  

In the bottom of the 6th inning, White Sox Pitcher Ryan Burr replaced Keuchel at the mound. In the top of the 7th inning, White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez hit a 2-run homer to center field. In the bottom of the 7th inning, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer replaced Burr for no damage in the inning. In the bottom of the 8th inning, White Sox pitcher Mike Wright replaced Bummer till Garrett Crochet replaced him in the same inning.  Soon after, Tigers batter hit a 2-run single. Next batter up was Niko Goodrun, who hit a 2-run triple.  The last run on the inning was a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Schoop that brought the score to a close 8-7 White Sox.  In the bottom of the 9th, White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks took the mound to throw for a lineout and 2 strikeouts to close the game.  The White Sox beat the Tigers 8-7.
