Astros take the Divisional Series in game 4 (Chicago, Illinois) — In game 4 of the Divisional Series in Chicago, the White Sox were looking to stay alive in the series and go into game 5 with the Astros. In the top of the 1st inning, White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon took the mound to throw out the first pitch for a groundout and 2 strikeouts. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, White Sox batter Gavin Sheets took the mound to launch a ball to center field for a solo home run and the first run of the game. In the top of the 3rd, Astros batter Carlos Correa hit a double to left field for a 2-run double. Soon after, White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech replaced Rodon at the mound to throw for the final out. In the top of the 4th inning, Astros batter Martin Maldonado grounded a single to center field for an RBI. In that inning, Garrett Crochet replaced Kopech. Astros batter Alex Bregman hit a 3-run double that gave the Astros a heavy edge over the White Sox. By the end of the 4th inning, the White Sox trailed the Astros 5-1. In the top of the 5th inning White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera replaced Crochet to throw for no damage.

White Sox Struggle to Gain Traction

In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer replaced Tepera at the mound in an attempt to get the last out. Astros batter Michael Brantley hit a grounder to center field for an RBI single. By the end of the 6th inning, the Astros held a heavy lead with the score at 6-1 Astros. White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel replaced Bummer at the mound in the top of the 8th inning. Soon after, Astro’s batter Michael Brantley singled on a grounder for an RBI. In the top of the 9th, White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks took the mound to throw out for the 9th and final inning. In the top of the 9th inning, Astros batter Jose Altuve hit a 3-run home run to left field. The Astros beat the White Sox 10-1 in the 4th game of the Divisional Series.
