The White Sox narrowly take 3rd game of series against the A’s (Chicago, Illinois) – The White Sox, looking to take the series, wanted to keep up their momentum and started with White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn at the mound. In the bottom of the 1st inning White Sox batter Eloy Jimenez doubled on a line drive to left field for an RBI double to cement the first run of the game. By the end of the 1st, the score was 1-0 White Sox. The 2nd and 3rd innings consisted of many pop outs, lineouts and strikeouts with both teams displaying great defense. In the top of the 4th inning, Athletics batter Seth Brown homered to left field to tie the game at 1-1. In the bottom of the 4th inning, White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn was ejected by the 3rd base umpire for apparent belt tossing from the dugout. Soon after, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a groundball to center field for an RBI single. By the end of the 4th inning the Athletics trailed the White Sox 2-1.
A Close Game
In the top of the 5th, White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet took the mound to replace Lynn. In the same inning, the White Sox defense picked up a double play on the Athletics to shut down their offense. In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera relieved Crochet at the mound. In the bottom of the 6th, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit another RBI single, this time to left field. In the top of the 7th inning, Athletics batter Starling Marte hit a sacrifice fly to close the gap on the White Sox. After Marte’s run, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer took the mound to close the 7th. The score was 3-2 White Sox going into the 8th inning. In the top of the 8th, White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks replaced Bummer to close out the top of the inning. Hendriks then threw 3 consecutive strikeouts to close the game. The White Sox beat the Athletics 3-2.
