White Sox slaughter Rangers in first game in Texas (Dallas, Texas) – After traveling to face the Rangers, the White Sox batters were swinging for the fences. In the top of the 1st inning, White Sox batter Jose Abreu hit a sacrifice fly to center field for the RBI and the first run of the game. In the top of the 2nd inning, White Sox batter Romy Gonzalez hit a double RBI to extend the lead over the Rangers. By the end of the 2nd inning, the Rangers trailed the White Sox 2-0.  In the top of the 4th inning, White Sox batters Luis Robert hit a 3-run double. Next batter up was Jose Abreu, who hit an RBI double. Soon after, Eloy Jimenez hit an RBI single to left field. By the end of the 4th inning, the White Sox took a heavy lead with the score at 7-0. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Rangers base-runner Leody Taveras stole 2nd base, but luckily, the White Sox defense closed the inning with no damage.

White Sox Take an Early Lead

In the bottom of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer took the mound for Cease to throw for a groundout and 2 strikeouts. In the top of the 7th inning, White Sox batter Cesar Hernandez hit an RBI double to extend the lead. In the bottom of that inning, White Sox pitcher Ryan Burr replaced Bummer to throw for 2 strikeouts and a force-out.  He was soon replaced with White Sox pitcher Jose Ruiz in the 8th.  In the bottom of the 9th inning, White Sox pitcher Jace Fry replaced Ruiz and the White Sox defense picked up on a double play and a pop out to close the game. The White Sox beat the Rangers 8-0.
