White Sox show dominance first day back home (Chicago, Illinois) – White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez took the mound to throw out the first pitch of the game in Chicago against the Cincinnati Reds. In the bottom of the 1st inning, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a line drive to center field for a solo home run. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, White Sox batter Yoan Moncada launched a ball to right center field for a solo home run. By the end of the 2nd inning, the Reds trailed the White Sox 2-1. In the bottom of the 4th inning, White Sox batter White Sox batter Gavin Sheets hit a 2-run home run to right center field to extend the lead. In the top of the 5th, Reds batter Eugenio Suarez crushed a solo home run to center field.  In the bottom of the 5th, the White Sox were caught in a double play. By the end of the 5th inning the score was 3-1 White Sox.

White Sox Slowly Pull Ahead

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Sheets hit a single RBI to left field. Soon after, White Sox batter Cesar Hernandez grounded into a force out but not before a baserunner made it home for the RBI. By the end of the 6th inning, the White Sox carried a heavy lead with the score at 5-1 White Sox. In the top of the 7th inning, White Sox pitcher Jose Ruiz relieved Lopez at the mound after 81 allusive pitches. In that inning, the Reds batter Eugenio Suarez grounded into a double play that was picked up by the White Sox defense. In the top of the 8th inning, White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer took the mound for Ruiz and in that inning the Reds grounded into another double play. In the bottom of the 8th, White Sox batter Luis Robert hit a 2-run home run to left field. Going into the 9th and final inning, the White Sox were dominating the competition with the score at 7-1. In the top of the 9th inning, White Sox batter Matt Foster replaced Bummer to throw for 2 flyouts and a groundout to close the game. The White Sox beat the Reds 7-1.
