White Sox look to sweep the series (Chicago, Illinois) – The White Sox tried to keep up their momentum with putting White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito at the mound to throw out the first pitch of the game against the Tigers. He threw for 2 flyouts and a groundout. The 2nd and 3rd inning consisted of many groundouts, lineouts, pop outs, and strikeouts with both teams displaying great defense. In the top of the 4th inning, Tigers batter Jeimer Candelario hit a single line drive to left field for the first run of the game. By the end of the 5th inning, the Tigers took the lead over the White Sox with the score at 1-0. In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Ryan Burr relieved Giolito at the mound to throw for a strikeout and a grounder into a double play. In the top of the 7th, White Sox pitcher Dallas Keuchel replaced Burr. In that inning, Tigers batter Eric Haase hit a sharp line drive to left field for an RBI. Next batter up was Tigers batter Daz Cameron, who hit a double groundball to left field for another RBI. Soon after, Tigers batter Robbie Grossman hit a single to right field to extend the lead. After the RBI, Matt Foster was brought in to pitch for the last out.

A Long 7th Inning

In the bottom of the 7th, White Sox batter Yoan Moncada doubled on a ground ball to right field for an RBI and the White Sox first run. Next batter up was Gavin Sheets who singled on a line drive to right field for a single RBI. Soon after, Tim Anderson grounded a single for an RBI. By the end of the 7th inning, the White Sox trailed the Tigers 4-3. In the top of the 8th inning, White Sox batter Aaron Bummer replaced Foster and threw for 3 groundouts.  In the bottom of the 8th inning, White Sox batter Yoan Moncada crushed the first pitch throw to him to left field for a 2-run home run. The White Sox took the lead with the score at 5-4 going into the final inning. In the top of the 9th, White Sox batter Liam Hendriks took the mound to throw for a groundout and 2 strikeouts to close the game. The White Sox beat the Tigers 5-4.
