White Sox crush Tigers back in Chicago (Chicago, Illinois) – After traveling back to Chicago, the White Sox were ready to play ball. In the top of the 1st White Sox pitcher Lance Lynn took the mound to throw out the first pitch. In the top of the 3rd inning, the White Sox defense caught Tigers batter Daz Cameron out by a strikeout double play. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, White Sox batter Jose Abreu crushed a ball to left field for a solo home run. The White Sox grounded into a double play that put the game into the 4th inning. By the end of the 3rd inning, the White Sox took the lead with the score at 1-0. In the top of the 4th, Tigers batter Robbie Grossman hit a double RBI that ties the game at 1-1. In the bottom of the 4th inning, White Sox batter Tim Anderson singled on a sharp ground ball to left field for an RBI single. Next batter up was Luis Robert, who was out but on a sacrifice fly for the run. Next batter at the mound was Jose Abreu who reached on a fielder’s choice for the last run, until they were shut down by a double play. By the end of the 4th inning, the Tigers trailed the White Sox 4-1.

Tigers Can’t Keep Up

In the top of the 5th inning, the White Sox defense picked up on another double play to advance the game. In the top of the 6th inning, White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet relieved Lynn at the mound to throw for 2 strikeouts and a groundout. In the bottom of the 6th, White Sox batter Jose Abreu hit a double RBI for another run. In the top of the 7th, White Sox pitcher Ryan Tepera replaced Crochet to catch the Tigers in another double play. In the bottom of the 7th inning, White Sox batter Gavin Sheets hit a single to center field for a 2-run single. Soon after, Abreu took the plate again to walk in another run. By the end of the 7th inning, the White Sox had a heavy lead with the score at 8-1. In the top of the 8th, White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel took the mound to placed Tepera, who was soon replaced by Liam Hendriks to pitch the 9th and final inning. He pitched for 3 strikeouts to close the game. The White Sox beat the Tigers 8-1.
