D’nita explained, “I was a hair stylist for 25 years and decided to challenge myself and try something new.” She had always enjoyed baking and found it soothing, so she decided to make use of her love of baking. On the recommendation of a friend, she looked into attending the well-respected French Pastry School of Chicago. Impressed by their reputation and inspired by her friend’s success, she decided to enroll.

The techniques that she learned in pastry school allowed her to take her baking skills to the next level. When she graduated from pastry school, she knew she wanted to carve out her own niche. With her newfound skillset, D’nita was able to create dazzling desserts and wedding cakes that were beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. She quickly gained clientele and soon outgrew her one-man operation.

When looking for a place, she wanted a space that would be able to serve as both a retail and a bakery location. Having been a long-time resident of Country Club Hills, she found the perfect space and quickly established herself in the community. “I love being in Country Club Hills, and as a Black Owned Business, it is important to me to become a staple in the community,” she shared. As with many small business, her bakery was also heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the bakery is preparing for a a bright future and is currently hiring.

D’nita mentioned that her specialty is custom concept cakes and cupcakes.
