White Sox take the series over the Indians (Chicago, Illinois) – After yesterday’s close game the White Sox started with White Sox pitcher Jimmy Lambert at the mound to throw out the first pitch. In the top of the first inning the White Sox defense caught the Indians in a double play that brought it into the bottom of the 1st. In the bottom of the 2nd White Sox batter Leury Garcia grounded into a double play that closed the innings. In the top of the 3rd inning Lambert threw a 93mph fastball to Indians Myles Straw, who crushed it to center field for a solo home run and the first run of the day. In the top of the 4th inning White Sox pitcher Reynaldo Lopez relieved Lambert after 57 pitches. In the bottom of the 5th inning White Sox batter Brian Goodwin reached on a fielding error that gave him a base opportunity. A walk and a single later Brian Goodwin was on 3rd base with his eyes on home plate. White Sox batter Jose Abreu was hit by a pitch that resulting in Goodwin being walked in to cement the White Sox first run.
The Mental Game
By the end of the 5th inning the game was tied at 1-1. In the top of the 7th inning White Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer replaced Lopez at the mound to a lineout, strikeout, and groundout. In the top of the 8th inning the White Sox pitcher Craig Kimbrel replaced Bummer for 2 flyouts and a strikeout. White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks took the mound to close out the top of the 9th with 2 strikeouts and pop out. In the bottom of the 9th inning White Sox batter Brian Goodwin took the plate to blast a ball to right field for a walk off home run that ended the game. The White Sox beat the Indians 2-1.
