Illinois State Fraternal Order of Police Endorses IL-1 Candidate Chris Butler (Chicago, IL) — Pastor Chris Butler, US congressional candidate for the 1st District of Illinois, has been endorsed by the Illinois State Fraternal Order of Police, which works to support those who value public safety and law enforcement.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police. Our law enforcement officers are working class people who put their lives on the line every day to keep our families and communities safe. I decided to run for Congress to put working families back at the center of our policy-making, and I am proud that the largest police union in our state has the confidence that I can get the job done in Congress,” Butler states.

The Illinois FOP is the second largest State Lodge representing over 33,000 active duty and retired police officers-more than 10 percent of all FOP members nationwide.  The IL FOP is organized to protect, preserve, and improve benefits for individuals in law enforcement and the communities they serve. It is dedicated to electing officials who support Illinois law enforcement and safe communities.

“I look forward to working together to build a robust public safety infrastructure, which includes strong, professional policing, as well as prevention and intervention programs for people who seem to be headed down the wrong path. If we’re serious about family, we must be serious about safety. And that means supporting our law enforcement officers.” says Butler.

Pastor Butler, whose name was recently drawn for the top spot on the IL-1 ballot, has been connecting with voters and communities since March of 2021. His background highlights his ability to bring unity between diverse groups. The Senior Pastor of the Chicago Embassy Church, he has launched various initiatives serving at the local, state, and national level. For example, Pastor Butler worked in education reform as Deputy Campaign Manager for A+ Illinois and as Advocacy Director for New Schools for Chicago. Pastor Butler also co-founded the Chicago Peace Campaign to reimagine public safety, as well as the AND (&) Campaign, a nonprofit organization which promotes civic engagement nationwide.
