Doing Business with Government Agencies: CTA Hosts Outreach Event to Connect Small Diverse Business Owners with City, County and State Governmental Agencies (Chicago, IL) — As part of its commitment to advancing equity and inclusion, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is hosting a panel discussion on how local firms and businesses can qualify to partner with it and other local government agencies on future contracting opportunities.

Individuals interested in learning about small business certifications and upcoming procurement opportunities on CTA’s transformational projects, such as the Red & Purple Modernization (RPM) Phase I, Red Line Extension, the All Stations Accessible Program (ASAP), the Western Brown Line Station Rehabilitation and the multi-phased Forest Park Branch Rebuild should attend this event. Thursday’s event, will take place in-person at the following:

This event includes the opportunities to engage with the following agencies that will provide information about certification programs and projects they have in the pipeline:

  • Metra
  • Cook County Government
  • Illinois Tollway
  • Pace Bus
  • Illinois Department of Human Services
  • Illinois Capital Development Board
  • Public Building Commission
  • Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

“This event provides a unique opportunity to learn how to get on the ground floor of business partnerships with local governments on projects that will benefit our surrounding communities,” said JuanPablo Prieto, CTA Director of Diversity Programs. “At the end of the day, participants will see firsthand how CTA and fellow government agencies promote diversity in both contracts and partners to better reflect the communities we all serve.”

This is the latest in a series of measures taken by the CTA to extend business opportunities to help foster economic growth in the communities it serves. CTA has hosted other outreach events to connect career-seekers and small and diverse business leaders with resources and opportunities in a range of different industries, including the construction industry. CTA also hosts various outreach events leading up to the start of project work and throughout the projects’ progression to encourage participation from small, diverse businesses that wish to participate and has several programs to support small business development.
