Dianne Masters Cup Supports Victims of Domestic Violence (Tinley Park, IL) — The Crisis Center for South Suburbia hosted the Dianne Masters Cup Charity Golf Outing to help raise funds to support its mission on Tuesday, August 8, at Silver Lake Country Club. This year marked the 30th Anniversary of this annual fundraiser, which included a special VIP area with a bourbon and wine tasting, cigars, and special treats for major supporters over the years. Guests enjoyed eye-opener beverages, a beautiful day of golf, lunch on the course, a trivia contest, many hole games and prizes, as well as a grilled steak and chicken buffet at a 19th Hole Celebration.

Highlighted at the post-play celebration was a large silent auction and pearl pendant donation station to commemorate the outing’s 30th Anniversary. Guests also flocked to try their shot at a “Fling the Ring” game where they could win a bottle of wine, spirits, or gift cards. Pamela Kostecki, the Executive Director of the Crisis Center, spoke of the amazing accomplishments made over the past year, including the expansion of their emergency shelter, which now is able to accommodate 40% more survivors of domestic violence.

With the significant uptick in domestic violence cases in our surrounding communities and most recently right here in our backyard, emphasis was made about spreading awareness to family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. When questioned about the importance of ending the stigma of shame related to seeking help, Kostecki said, “Victims may suffer many forms of abuse. Their abusers can break them down so badly that they believe they are to blame. It’s way past time to break this myth. We need to all come together to support survivors and shine a light on the strength it takes to leave.”

Funds raised at this year’s golf outing ensures that the agency continues to provide free shelter, housing, counseling, community education, advocacy and other support services to victims of domestic violence and their children.
