DeLuca Named Vice-Chairperson of House Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, & IT Committee (Chicago Heights, IL) — State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, D-Chicago Heights, has been appointed Vice-Chairperson of the House Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, & IT Committee where he will review cutting edge technological issues and their impact on communities across the state.

“From the rise of social media targeted toward our children such as TikTok, to cyberattacks from foreign countries, we’re increasingly facing new technological challenges here at home,” DeLuca said. “It’s important that we are ready and knowledgeable to adapt however necessary to these changes.”

The House Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, & IT Committee this session received legislation related to social media moderation, TikTok use policies on state property, an artificial intelligence (AI) task force, data privacy and other computer-related issues. A full list of the committee’s bipartisan membership can be found at https://ilga.gov/house/committees/members.asp?CommitteeID=2933&GA=103.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to help lead this committee which increasingly reflects the everyday issues families are dealing with,” DeLuca said. “Whether we’re dealing with technological issues that are positive or negative for our state, it’s critical that our General Assembly is ready to make timely, informed and responsible decisions. I look forward to the work ahead.”
