Crisis Center’s Auxiliary Hosts Virtual Walk Against Domestic Violence (Palos Park, IL) — Since 2008, the Crisis Center for South Suburbia Auxiliary has raised over $155,000 to support domestic violence programs and services in Chicago’s south suburbs. This year, the group is once again hosting a Virtual Walk Against Domestic Violence.

Since the event went virtual in 2020, it has raised nearly $17,000, and Auxiliary members hope to generate $5,000 this year. “Economic insecurity continues affecting the plight of those living daily with violence and abuse,” said Crisis Center Auxiliary President Marie Kaminski.  “Now, more than ever, we need to embrace the ministry of participation to care for each other, especially those who live in fear.

Donors can give online at AuxWalk2023.givesmart.com or mail a check to the Crisis Center Auxiliary, P.O. Box 174, Palos Park, IL, 60464. Donation levels are listed on the website, but gifts in any amount are welcome.

The Auxiliary is collecting donations from now through the end of September.  Funds will be directed to programs such as Safe Start, which provides prevention and education about healthy dating to local high schools and junior high schools.  A portion of the funds are also directed to help survivors of domestic violence with emergency needs and to provide meals for families living in the shelter.
