Arrest Made In Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Orland Park, IL) — On Tuesday (04/19/22) at approximately 5:45 PM, Orland Park tactical officers attempted to stop a white Nissan occupied by a male driver and female passenger. When the officers approached the vehicle, the vehicle fled eastbound on 151st Street at a high rate of speed. A short time later, an officer looking for the vehicle pulled into the Shell gas station at 15100 Harlem Avenue and discovered it abandoned. The officer learned that the male and female occupants of the Nissan approached a customer of the gas station and demanded the keys to her vehicle, a Mazda. The victim turned over her keys to the pair who then fled northbound on Harlem Avenue in the stolen vehicle.

Surrounding agencies were notified as officers attempted to locate the stolen vehicle. Several minutes later, Orland Park officers were notified that the Mazda was abandoned, disabled on 143rd Street, just east of Ridgeland Avenue. Witnesses stated that the male and female ran into the woods near Midlothian Country Club. Numerous officers from multiple jurisdictions diverged on the area and set up a perimeter in an attempt to locate the offenders. Orland Park police deployed a drone and a Cook County Forest Preserve K-9 tracked the offenders through the woods to a subdivision where the scent ended. The offenders were presumed to have been picked up by a vehicle.

The subsequent investigation led to the identification of the two offenders, Aviana Lipscomb and a male juvenile. On 04/21/22, Lipscomb was taken into custody and charged with  Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Class X Felony). The male juvenile has not yet been located.

On 04/22/21, Lipscomb was transported to Bridgeview Courthouse where the Honorable  Judge Felice set the bond at $250,000D.

The Orland Park Police Department would like to thank the Cook County Sheriff’s Police,  Cook County Forest Preserve Police, Midlothian Police, Orland Hills Police, Tinley Park  Police, Oak Forest Police and the Illinois State Police for their assistance.
