Another Water Main Break Repaired in Dixmoor (Dixmoor, IL) — A water main break that occurred last night in Dixmoor has been repaired, according to Village President Fitzgerald Roberts.

The latest water main break occurred at 141st and Marshfield Street. The break has been repaired. There currently is no Boil Water Order in Dixmoor at this time. There has been a total of 14 water main breaks in Dixmoor since January 22nd.

“Our hope that this is the last of the breaks in the short term,” Roberts said. “Before we can begin to find more permanent solutions to the water problems in our community, we need to for things to calm down. Unfortunately, every time we think we are in the clear, we have another break.”

  1. Perhaps Silence Dogood should ask Dixmoor officials whether any of these recent 14 water main breaks involved old asbestos cement water pipes? The EPA regulates asbestos in water. The American Cancer Society highlights swallowing asbestos, and water that runs through asbestos cement pipes on its website. If these breaks involve old asbestos cement water pipes, were residents informed, and was the water tested for asbestos? In closing, if these were asbestos cement pipes, what impact does a boil water order have on a fire retardant mineral?
