The Illinois State Bowling Proprietors’ Association Honors several Chicago and suburban locals as part of its 75th Anniversary Celebration (Melrose Park, IL) – The Illinois State Bowling Proprietors’ Association (ISBPA) recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary. To commemorate reaching the milestone, the association produced a 116-page booklet recognizing 75 individuals and/or families, with strong ties to Illinois, who have advanced bowling.

Below is a list of Chicago and suburban honorees by county:

Cook County: Bill Bard and Bill Brennan of Arena Lanes in Oak Lawn; Ed Cermak, of Palos Lanes in Palos; Jacoby Dickens & Brunetta Hill-Corley of Skyway Bowl in Chicago; Habetler Family of Habelter Bowl in Chicago; Gary Handler of Waveland Bowl in Chicago; Mark Iverson of Diversey River Bowl in Chicago; Erwin Korzen, Henry Barber & Jim Saffold of Stardust Bowl in Addison, Classic Lanes in Niles and Hillside Bowl in Hillside; Tom Kouros of River Rand Bowl in Des Plaines; Supanich Family of Lawn Lanes in  Chicago; Stutz Family of Circle Bowling Lanes in Forest Park; Tadevich Family of Burr Oak Bowl, Blue Island and Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb; Zikes Family of Beverly Lanes in Arlington Heights

Will County: Tom Doud of Channahon Lanes & Mini Golf in Channahon; Ed Figlewski of Country Lanes Bowling Center in New Lenox; George Kontos of Joliet Town & Country in Joliet

“These individuals are not only tremendous ambassadors of the bowling community, but they are also outstanding citizens who take great pride in serving their communities,” said ISBPA President, Mike Melone. “There is tremendous history with all of these individuals. For instance, the Stutz family of Forest Park was one of the first proprietors to join the Bowling Proprietors Association of America nearly 80 years ago. It is an honor to recognize these tremendous people for what they have done for bowling not just in Illinois but throughout the nation.”
