State of Emergency Declared (Dixmoor, IL) — Village President Fitzgerald Roberts has signed a proclamation declaring a State of Emergency in Dixmoor in the wake of three new water main breaks that occurred last night.

“We had hoped these problems were behind us but last night, there were three water main breaks and at this point our community is overwhelmed,” Roberts said. “We need help. These old pipes are breaking, and we have no idea when it will stop.”

In the past week, there have been 12 separate water main breaks in Dixmoor. Two of the new water main breaks are at 141st and Wood Street and the other one is at 141st near Page Street. There currently is a boil water order in Dixmoor.

Updates will be made available as they are released.
