Stafford throws 3 touchdowns, beats Bears for first time as a Ram (Inglewood, CA) –  On the opening drive, Chicago got off to the start they were looking for as Bears running back David Montgomery took off on the second play of the game for forty-one yards. However, the Bears failed to come away with any points in the red zone. Tight end Cole Kmet was flagged for a false start. Then quarterback Andy Dalton’s pass intended for Darnell Mooney was tipped by Rams Kenny Young, and picked off by cornerback David Long Jr in the end zone.

The Rams wasted little time on their opening drive marching right down the field on three plays for eighty yards, culminating with a sixty-seven yard touchdown from Matthew Stafford to receiver Van Jefferson.

The Bears went for it on fourth down with four yards to go on their second drive and turned it over on downs.  This proved to be a theme throughout the game as they went for it again on fourth down and four, and Dalton was sacked and fumbled the football which was recovered by Rams Kenny Young.

Chicago would eventually get on the board with a three yard touchdown run by Montgomery.

Rams led 13-7 at the half.

Rams receive second half

Chicago secondary blew a coverage early in the third and Stafford found Cooper Kupp for a 56 yard touchdown.

The Bears would put together a solid drive, one that would last for nine minutes. Dalton connected with tight end Jimmy Graham  for an eleven yard reception over Rams Jalen Ramsey converting on third down and setting up first and goal from the three yard line.  Rookie quarterback Justin Fields entered the game on the ensuing play and scored on a three yard touchdown run and cut the deficit to 20-14.

Rams quickly responded with an eight play drive resulting in a Darrell Henderson touchdown.

Down thirteen Chicago went for it on fourth down with fifteen yards to go and in field goal range, they would turn it over on downs again.

In the end the Bears would fall 34-14.  Dalton finished with 206 passing yards and an interception.  Montgomery had a strong night with 16 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown.

Matthew Stafford was spectacular with 321 yards and three touchdowns in his debut with the Los Angeles Rams after leaving Detroit this offseason.
