Rochelle Taylor and Harrah’s Casino Joliet has a History of Dealing with Black Businesses that is “God Awful” and Rochelle Taylor Continues to Lie About Diverse Spend Numbers (Tinley Park, IL) – The Southland Black Chamber of Commerce & Industry recently spoke out about the procurement issues with Harrah’s Casino Joliet. Harrah’s Casino Joliet is a property of Caesars Entertainment Group. Harrah’s Casino Joliet and Rochelle Taylor have continued to be disrespectful to local black businesses and the local Black Chamber of Commerce.
“Their numbers are God Awful and nowhere near the 20% goal,” said board Chairman Dr. Cornel Darden Jr.
“We’ve been trying to build a relationship with Harrah’s Casino Joliet for over 5 years now. We’ve been met with lies and hostility from several members of their team, especially the Regional Procurement Manager Rochelle Taylor,” states Dr. Cornel Darden Jr.
The latest annual report that Harrah’s Casino and Rochelle Taylor are required to submit to the Illinois General Assembly states that Harrah’s Casino Joliet’s Diversity mission is as follows:

“Caesars Entertainment and its properties work to achieve diversity and inclusion by striving to attain both equity and equality within our corporation and with all the suppliers with whom we work. We are committed to procuring our products and services from a diversified pool of vendors, contractors and professional services providers. We are also committed in working with developing businesses to help them build capacity.”
Their numbers for Diverse Spend is 7% out of a 20% Goal. Their numbers for Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) companies are even worse at 4%. They refuse to release the numbers for Black business, which the Southland Black Chamber of Commerce contends to be “God Awful.” The Southland Black Chamber of Commerce believes that Rochelle Taylor continues to lie about the numbers.
Members of the Southland Black Chamber of Commerce are planning a press conference before the Thursday June 15th Illinois Gaming Board meeting. They also intend to speak during public comment.
