Rainbow PUSH Coalition/PUSH Excel to provide free ice cream and a team building exercise as part of its Saturday Summer STEM/Sports Camp for youth (Chicago, IL) – In an effort to provide educational classes to Concordia Place students during the Rainbow PUSH Coalition/PUSH Excel Summer STEM/Sports Camp program, Concordia students will receive free ice cream for an hour Saturday, July 31st, and a special team building exercise for the first hour of the sports program.
The summer program will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. simultaneously at two sites, the Concordia Place Apartments, 13037 S. Daniel Dr., and at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters, 930 E. 50th St., Chicago, IL.
As an extra incentive for the Concordia Place residents, a class in team building will be offered, according to Rev. Tim Lee, director of the summer program.
Lee, an author who received his Bachelors Degree at Hampton University and both his Master’s Degree and Masters in Divinity from the Virginia Union University and the Samuel DeWitt Proctor school of Theology, said teaching the students about team building is important in developing their character.
“It is important in this day and age because there are so many things that are dividing the youth. We need to teach them how to unite especially under the name of PUSH where people are united to serve humanity. We want to inject those character traits and precepts into the students about unity,” he explained.
During the Chicago session of the summer camp program, Rev. Lee said the students would have classes in coding, robotics, financial literacy and other game designs including drones. He explained why teaching the students about drones is also important.
“The world is moving to a digital age one of technology and many of the jobs are going to be reserved for people who have certification and knowledge in the technological field. That is why we are introducing the children to these concepts at early ages. This is what we intend to do at PUSH to make sure they are in a competitive place as they get older,” explained Rev. Lee.
