Prairie State College Speech Team Amid Successful Season (Chicago Heights, IL) — The Prairie State College (PSC) Forensics team is having a successful season with impressive results so far. Competing in three tournaments held across Illinois, the team’s results are outlined below for each tournament.

Shadwell-Dittus Tournament | Elgin Community College – December 1-2, 2023

Syncere Billups (Homewood, IL) won first place in the Top Speaker category and was the tournament Champion in IPDA Debate. Billups teamed up with Carrington Valentine (Hazel Crest, IL) for third place in Duo Interpretation. Valentine shined on his own, earning the tournament championship in Informative Speaking.

RAFL Warm-up | Region IV Affiliated Forensics League – January 5-6, 2024

Valentine won the Informative Speaking event to lead PSC. Jalen Pia (Tinley Park, IL) and Fiel Wilson (Homewood, IL) also represented the Pioneers at the event.

College of DuPage | Frank-ly Speaking Tournament – January 19-20, 2024

Valentine starred for the Pioneers, winning his third straight tournament in Informative Speaking. The win for Valentine came over both two-year and four-year schools. He was a quarterfinalist in IPDA Debate and finished third for his Top Speaker in Debate performance. Fiel Wilson (Homewood, IL) finished eighth in Novice Impromptu Speaking.
