Prairie State College Named Recipient of Urban Area Security Initiative Award (Chicago Heights, IL) — Prairie State College (PSC) has been named a subaward grant recipient of the Urban Area Security Initiative Award of $500,000 from the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the Department of Emergency Management & Regional Security.

The $500,000 award will directly benefit students enrolled in The Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI)  and Paramedic Training through the PSC Allied Health and Emergency Services Division. It will provide critically needed paramedic training for new emergency professionals in the Illinois Community College District 515. The grant will also cover supplies, costs, and equipment for the Fire Science and Paramedicine programs, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for students.

“We are thrilled to have been named a recipient of the Urban Area Security Initiative Award, which reaffirms Prairie State College’s commitment to enhancing our community while helping our Allied Health and Emergency Services department develop outstanding workers,” PSC President Dr. Michael Anthony said. “This grant will enable us to implement innovative strategies and technologies as we continue to build an already excellent Fire Science program.”
