Patriotism or Pettiness? Illinois Freedom Caucus Urges Gov. Pritzker to Respect the Presidency (Springfield, IL) – The Illinois Freedom Caucus is calling on Governor J.B. Pritzker to raise flags across the state to full-staff for the inauguration of President-elect Donald J. Trump as a gesture of respect for the Office and the values that make America great.

“It’s time for Governor J.B. Pritzker to put partisan politics aside and show respect for the office of the presidency by following federal leadership in raising the flags,” said Rep. Chris Miller, Chairman of the Illinois Freedom Caucus. “Governor Pritzker, it’s time to choose patriotism over pettiness. Let’s raise those flags and Make America and Illinois Great Again.”

This week, Speaker Mike Johnson announced that flags at the U.S. Capitol will fly at full staff to “celebrate our country coming together behind the inauguration of our 47th President, Donald Trump.” States, including Iowa, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Alabama, have followed suit.

“President Trump is right: Democrats have spent years tearing down what makes our nation strong, and their pettiness about keeping flags at half-staff for this historic moment is yet another example of their disdain for American pride,” Miller said.

The Illinois Freedom Caucus calls on Governor Pritzker to put aside partisan grudges and follow the lead of governors who understand the importance of this day. Anything less would be a slap in the face to the tradition of our founding fathers.
