Orland Park Police Respond to Vehicle Burglary Call in Fernway Subdivision (Orland Park, IL) — The Orland Park Police Department responded to a call reporting a vehicle burglary in the Fernway subdivision during the early morning hours of March 20, 2023.

A resident in the 8600 block of 170th St. was awoken by a number of suspects on his property attempting to gain access to his vehicles. The resident, in an attempt to secure his property, approached the suspects who fired multiple gunshots in the direction of the resident, missing the resident.

The dark-colored sports utility vehicle occupied by the suspects fled the area immediately and are no longer in the region. Prior incidents have been reported to have taken place in Mokena and Tinley Park involving what authorities believe to be the same suspects, leading investigators to believe the crew is making its way through the region committing similar crimes. A collaborative investigation is underway.

The Orland Park Police Department reminds residents not to confront suspects when witnessing criminal activity. “The safety of our residents is first and foremost,” said Chief of Police Eric Rossi. “Your life is much more important than any material items.”

It is advised to stay out of harm’s way, be a good witness and observe the offender(s) from afar to obtain a description, and if possible, a license plate number.
