Orland Park Police Department’s Annual Bike Ride for Special Olympics Illinois Returns August 28 (Orland Park, IL) — The Orland Park Police Department’s late summer bike ride to benefit Special Olympics Illinois returns Sunday, August 28. The ride begins and ends at Fattie’s Pub in Orland Park, 14420 John Humphrey Drive.

Check-in and registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the ride begins at 7:30 a.m.  The ride is open to those ages 12 and up.  Cost is $25 per person and all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

Pre-registration is available until Friday, August 26. Register online at https://soill.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=1012 or in person utilizing the form obtainable from the Village Hall, the Police Station, and from the Village’s website at orlandpark.org/bikeride.

“The police department bike ride is always a well-attended community event — it’s a fun ride through beautiful Orland Park — and it’s for a great cause,” said Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau. “I look forward to seeing everyone out there again this year.”

The 15-mile course will travel through business, residential and park settings of picturesque Orland Park. A water stop is held midway through the ride.

Refreshments will be available and a complimentary breakfast buffet with soft drinks and coffee will be available at Fattie’s Pub after the ride.

“Each summer, many people look forward to this event and it seems to be a community favorite,” said Police Chief Eric Rossi. “It’s not a race, rather a leisurely paced bike ride and everyone remains together as a group,” the Chief said, adding that all participants are expected to wear bicycle helmets.

Online registration is encouraged. Those returning forms in person must return forms to the Orland Park Police Department at 15100 South Ravinia Avenue or to the Village Hall at 14700 South Ravinia Avenue by Friday, August 26. Cash, checks and credit cards may be used to register with checks made payable to Special Olympics Illinois.
