Orland Park Jewelry Thief Apprehended in Chicago
Orland Park Jewelry Thief Apprehended in Chicago (Orland Park, IL) – On 06/19/21, the Orland Park Police Department responded to a retail theft at Zevar Jewelers in Orland Square Mall in response to a report of a subject who grabbed a necklace valued at $12,500 and fled the mall. Officers on the scene learned the offender came into the store and showed interest in this specific necklace. The offender left the store and returned on two more occasions to inquire about the same necklace. During his third visit to the jewelry store, the offender provided a fictitious name and phone number and requested to see the necklace, once again.
The offender was handed the necklace for viewing when he tried it on and ran out of the store, fleeing from the mall in an older model Pontiac minivan. Investigators discovered the offender was involved in several other similar jewelry store thefts at malls in the Chicagoland area. The Orland Park Police Department then coordinated with the other agencies where thefts had occurred and learned Norridge Police Department had obtained significant evidence at their crime scene. This led to a positive identification of the offender,
Aaron Hicks of Chicago. Investigators learned that Hicks sold the stolen necklace from Zevar Jewelers for a fraction of the value. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.
Arrested on Report of Domestic Disturbance
On December 24th, 2021, Aaron Hicks was arrested by the Chicago Police Department while responding to a call to a residence for a report of a domestic disturbance. He was transported to Branch 1 Courthouse at 2600th S. California where the Honorable Judge Navarro held him on $20,000 D Bond. Hicks next court date is at Bridgeview Courthouse on Jan 12th, 2022 at 9:30 Admin room 103.
