Lakers End Bulls’ 3 Game Win Streak (Chicago, IL) – After beating the Charlotte Hornets on Friday, the Bulls hoped to extend their current win streak to four games against the Lakers on Saturday. This is the Bulls first three game winning streak since February of 2019.

Extending this win streak will not be easy against the defending champions, but the Bulls did play the Lakers well on January 8th, when they lost by 2 points. Anthony Davis and Lauri Markannen did not play for their respective team in that game two weeks ago, but both will be on the court for this one.

Davis scores 26 as Lakers dominate in 1st half

Davis scored 13 of the Lakers first 16 points, leading his team to a 16-6 advantage over the Bulls with 6 minutes left in the 1st. Zach Lavine led the Bulls with 8 points, but the rest of the team struggled with only two field goals in the whole quarter. The Lakers led 29-17 going into the 2nd

Chicago had four turnovers early in the 2nd period, which allowed the Lakers to extend their lead to 38-19 with 9 minutes left. Later in the quarter, LA doubled the Bulls score at 54-27 with only 3 minutes left. The Lakers led 63-33 going into the second half

AD and Lebron combined to score 39 points in the half for the Lakers, but their team defense also had a major impact on the game. Chicago had 11 turnovers, shot 32% from the field and made no three pointers in the 1st half. Lavine was the lone bright spot in the 1st half, scoring 10 points.

Bulls score 33 in the 3rd, reduce Lakers lead to 17

Midway through the 3rd quarter, Davis scored his 13,000th career point with a mid-range jumper. Patrick Williams hit the first Bulls three of the game on the next play, but the Lakers still held a 71-46 lead with 6 minutes left. Chicago hit three more 3’s after that, as they went on a 20-12 run to close out the quarter. The Lakers led 83-66 going into the 4th

LA started the 4th outscoring the Bulls 12-7, to lead 95-73 with 5.5 minutes remaining in the final frame. Chicago went on a 17-6 run from that point on, but the difference was too large to overcome. The Lakers won 101-90, beating the Bulls for the 8th straight time.

Davis led the Lakers with 37 points, with Lebron adding 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Lavine led the Bulls with 21 points and 10 rebounds
