Homewood to Hold Annual Lights Festival (Homewood, IL) — Holiday Lights in Homewood celebrates the season with an action-packed, family-friendly evening of festivity on Friday, December 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the heart of Homewood. The evening features a tree lighting ceremony, Elsa, Anna and an elf, free s’mores (while supplies last), holiday mugs with mulled wine, an outdoor marketplace, ice sculpture carvings, an antique car parade, the arrival of Santa and his friends on a Homewood fire truck and more. Holiday Lights in Homewood is free and open to the public. Homewood is steps from the Metra Electric line and there is free and ample parking.
Entertainment schedule:
5 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Dance and sing with Elsa, Anna and a holiday elf
5 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Ride the holiday carousel and trackless train
5 p.m. – Mulled Wine and Holiday Mugs sales begin (while supplies last – 600 available – $10 mug + wine, $5
mug only)
5 p.m. – Free, toasted S’MORES (while supplies last)
5 p.m. – Cookie decorating ($3.00 suggested donation, while supplies last)
5 p.m. – Live ice sculpture carving (Martin Ave, just south of Ridge Road)
7 p.m. – Parade with Santa steps off at Homewood Fire Department (Parade route south on Dixie Highway and east on Ridge Road ending at Irwin Center)
7:10 p.m. – Tree lighting at Irwin Park
In addition to all the various activities, the Cancer Support Center, a Homewood non-profit, will pre-sell holiday wreaths, garland and decorative trees with easy pick-up and loading assistance. For just an additional $10, Homewood-Flossmoor residents, living within delivery radius, can opt for home delivery. GoodSpeed Cycles in Homewood has decided to donate their services and deliver the orders from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, December 1. The deadline for ordering is November 14.
