Homewood Announces Citizen Civics Academy (Homewood, IL) — The Village of Homewood launched an exciting and informative Citizen Civics Academy program for Homewood residents and business owners on January 2. The six-week initiative is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of the various facets of municipal operations. Classes will occur every Wednesday between March 13 and April 17, 2024.
The Citizen Civics Academy program aims to enlighten and educate a maximum of 15 participants each week, taking them on a comprehensive journey through various Village departments. Each session will focus on a specific department, offering an extensive overview of their functions, responsibilities, and roles within the Community.
The program’s structure involves not only classroom-style sessions but, also hands-on experiences including facility tours and equipment descriptions, when applicable. Participants can expect to delve into the specifics of departments such as the manager’s office, public works, community development, and public safety. By the end of the six weeks, attendees will have gained valuable insights and a better understanding of local government and Homewood’s various departments.
