Firestorm Over Fired “Whistleblower” Thornridge High School Wrestling Coach (Harvey, IL) — Thornton Township High School District 205 fired Alumni All-Conference Wrestling Coach Donkor Parker on March 8, 2022, on blowing the whistle on administrators allegedly funneling school contracts to their fathers, friends, and cronies.

Because of Mr. Parker’s whistleblowing, the School Board terminated his contract and wrestling coaching position leaving Thornridge High School without a coach. Parents and students are in an uproar over this extremely unnecessary situation. Coach Parker is loved and highly respected by his peers, parents, and students throughout school district 205.

Moreover, Coach Parker continues that this is not about him but about the parents’ and students’ welfare and educational pursuit, providing a haven to prevent students from being trapped by gang recruitment and gang violence. Coach Parker stated that his heart was, “undoubtedly in the right place, as the community knows, but sometimes choices you make can hinder one’s progress.”  Furthermore, he perceived a threat, and while he genuinely wanted to protect and safeguard his wrestlers, there could have been a better way to handle this situation without harming them.

“As a Coach, we want to be role models, leaders that lead, and the best thing I can admit is that this should not have been the burden on our children.”
