Election Integrity Issues at the Dixmoor Public Library District Which Doesn’t Have a Physical Library (Dixmoor, IL) – The Library board race for 2023 Library Trustees is really heating up in the Southland. The Village of Dixmoor currently doesn’t have a physical building, yet the library board has statutory authority to raise taxes and operate. The Dixmoor Public Library reportedly has a relationship with the Robbins Public Library District. The Dixmoor Public allegedly pays the Robbins Library District for physical services. The Dixmoor Library District has previously had relationships with the Harvey Public Library.
According to Charlene McFadden, she was told by Arletha Evans, the secretary of the library, that all library petition objections should be dropped off to Evans’ home address. However, Charlene McFadden, who attempted to make objections, could not reach anyone at the home located at 14205 Marshfield in Dixmoor, IL .
Robbins Public Library
The objections were attempted to be dropped off at the Robbins Public Library, which has a physical building.
A person was contacted at the Robbins Library yesterday, December 27th at 6:20pm. The person who was contacted at the Robbins library was told by a supervisor of the library that they can’t receive the objections. The objector was told to take them back to Arletha Evans in Dixmoor. Apparently there has been much confusion on where to drop petitions and objections off for the Dixmoor Library district’s race. “When we went to the County Clerk and the Election Board, we were told that they can’t do anything about it,” according to Charlene McFadden.
The objector went back to Arletha Evans’ address and left the objections on the stoop with a cover letter. There were pictures taken to prove that the objections were left.
Arletha Evans reportedly told the objector that she can’t answer any election related questions for 5 days. Arletha Evans reportedly made the statement: “I just don’t understand why everyone can’t have the opportunity to run for public office.”
Arletha Evans is currently running for reelection as Dixmoor Library District Trustee. Cynthia Muscuto is currently on the Library board and is running for Village of Dixmoor Trustee.
