DeLuca Highlights $400k Grant for Bethel Family Resource Center as Part of Pre-Apprenticeship Program (Chicago Heights, IL) – Following the advocacy of state Rep. Anthony DeLuca, D-Chicago Heights, the Bethel Family Resource Center is in line to receive a $400,000 grant as part of the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

“This grant is going to help local residents on their career path, and is an investment in the people of our area,” DeLuca said. “This kind of skilled training helps to better position residents to attain good paying, steady jobs that are in demand.”

The Bethel Family Resource Center grant is part of a $13 million expansion of the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program, which aims to increase diversity in the building trades by providing training for underrepresented populations. Upon finishing the program, pre-apprentices receive industry aligned certifications to help prepare and qualify them to continue a registered apprenticeship program in one of the trades.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has additional information on the program at https://dceo.illinois.gov/illinoisworks/preapprenticeship.html.

“I am appreciative of the work the Bethel Family Resource Center does for our community,” DeLuca said. “This is an organization with a long track record of creating opportunity and helping people succeed. I’m glad to see them receive this well-deserved grant.”
