Declined Credit Card Transaction Leads to Attempted Aggravated Robbery Arrest at Morris Walmart (Morris, IL) — On December 27, 2021 at 5:51pm, The Morris Police Department responded to Walmart, 333 East US Route 6, for a report of a Robbery. It was reported a black male entered the store and attempted to buy several electronic devices. The suspect attempted to purchase these items with a credit card but it was declined. The suspect tried to grab the merchandise but the cashier pulled it back out of his reach. The suspect then walked around the counter and attempted to physically remove the items from the cashier’s possession. After a struggle, the suspect fled the store out of a back emergency exit.
He fled the scene on foot and was last seen westbound toward the Dunkin Donuts Plaza. Morris Police Officers and Grundy County Deputies flooded the area and the suspect was taken into custody a short time later in the area of Green Acres and Route 6.
The suspect was identified as Gionni Hudson (30) of Woodridge. He was arrested for Attempted Aggravated Robbery and an un-related Will County arrest warrant. Hudson was transported to the Grundy County Jail to await a bond hearing. There were no reported injuries from this incident.
On December 28, 2021 Hudson was charged with Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Robbery. Hudson’s Bond was set at $200,000 and he remains in the Grundy County Jail.
