Cook County Board Approves Funding to Improve Transportation Throughout Cook County (Cook County, IL) — The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved funding today for transportation-related projects and initiatives led by the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects boost economic development, build up regional transportation and improve the quality of life throughout Cook County.

Barrington | $69,948
Construction of nearly a quarter-mile sidewalk on Prairie Avenue between South Street and Hillside Avenue that will provide residential connection to Grove Avenue Elementary School.

Blue Island | $383,492
Preliminary engineering for sidewalk and ADA improvements as well as green infrastructure such as planters to reduce stormwater runoff along Western Avenue between Grove Street and 127th Street.

Glenview | $112,500
Engineering study along Pfingston Road, including the intersections of East Lake and West Lake Avenues.

Hanover Park | $200,000
Construction of pedestrian and bicycle improvements along Church Avenue from Maple Avenue to Walnut Avenue and Center Avenue to Barrington Road, which will connect the community center and Hanover Park Metra Station.

Professional engineering and construction management for Cork Avenue/88th Avenue and I-294 interchange.
