Convicted Felon Charged with Possession of Child Pornography (Richton Park, IL) — A convicted felon on parole for gun crimes was charged with possession of child  pornography after an investigation found multiple images of child pornography on a file sharing app account that belonged to him, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.

Sheriff’s Police investigators assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) received a  cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the upload of more than  three dozen images to a file sharing app.

ICAC investigators determined the account belonged to Joshua Collymore, 22, of Richton Park, who is  currently on parole for a 2022 conviction for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Search warrants executed for Collymore’s file sharing account revealed a file entitled “young sex” containing 127 sexually explicit videos and photos of young children.

On Thursday, June 1, ICAC investigators took Collymore into custody at his home and transported him  to Sheriff’s Police headquarters in Maywood. After being issued his Miranda Warning, Collymore  stated he recognized several images that were recovered from his file sharing app.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one count of Class 2 of Possession of Child  Pornography/Videos/Victim <Age 13. Collymore is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing on the  charge on Saturday at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building.

The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the  government in a court of law.
