Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson Gives Stirring Speech, Presents Vice President Kamala Harris at the 57th Annual Rainbow PUSH Coalition International Convention (Chicago, IL) — On Sunday, July 16th, Congressman Jonathan L. Jackson gave an impassioned speech introducing Vice President Kamala Harris at the 57th Annual Rainbow PUSH Coalition International Convention. Congressman Jackson praised Vice President Harris for her unprecedented accomplishments in the Senate and her unwavering commitment to upholding the values of America.
“Today, I want to personally thank Vice President Harris for casting the most tie-breaking votes in the history of any vice president, fulfilling the role of the President of the United States Senate,” Congressman Jackson stated, highlighting that this achievement hadn’t been matched since 1832. “Thirty-one remarkable times, you stood up for what this nation might be, and in doing so, you are now in the shadows of the Reverend Martin Luther King. Thirty-one times, you stood up for American working families.
Congressman Jackson went on to commend other achievements of the Administration, including enacting laws to combat climate change, rescuing the economy, expanding benefits and services for veterans, passing substantial gun law reforms, and defending LGBTQ+ rights. “This Administration has also appointed the first African American woman, Ketanji Brown Jackson, to the United States Supreme Court,” he added.
Concluding his address, Congressman Jackson acknowledged the Biden-Harris Administration for their comprehensive support to Americans through the American Rescue Act, particularly those suffering from economic inequality.
“On behalf of us all, Vice President Harris, thank you for being in the room where it happens, and for not forgetting how you got there,” concluded Congressman Jackson.
