Black Chamber Says New Stadiums for Sox, Bears will be Beneficial (Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox are an integral part of the City of Chicago and Illinois as a whole. Our National Sports Leagues are world renowned. Many don’t understand the momentous undertaking that the founders of our sports leagues underwent to provide our culture and economy with the best sports leagues in the history of the world.
“Great minds created something out of nothing for our culture when it comes to professional sports. It took a while for those leagues to become profitable and more teams failed than succeeded. The boost to our economy from Professional Sports is tremendous. The Chicago Southland Black Chamber of Commerce is definitely in favor of public support for a new stadium for both the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox,” stated Dr. Cornel Darden Jr., Chairman of the Board of the Chicago Southland Black Chamber of Commerce.
The Chicago White Sox are currently looking at the Site 78 neighborhood around Roosevelt and Clark, while the Chicago Bears are looking to build a covered dome stadium directly south of Soldier Field.
“We think both of the latest proposal updates are great ideas. The Chicago Southland Black Chamber would definitely like to be included in the discussion. The Site 78 neighborhood definitely has huge potential to accelerate the transformation of the South Loop making it the best community in all of Chicago.” stated Darden.
He continued, “The proposal for tearing down the current Soldier Field while maintaining the historic columns is a great idea! We know the property is a national landmark and keeping that history and architecture is very important.”
