Attorney General: Channahon man pleads guilty to delivering more than 25 grams of methamphetamine (Channahon, IL) — Attorney General Kwame Raoul Friday announced a Channahon man pleaded guilty to delivering more than 25 grams of methamphetamine.

Grundy County Circuit Court Judge Sheldon Sobol found Donald J. Rogers, 38, of Channahon, Illinois, guilty of methamphetamine delivery, a Class X felony. Rogers was sentenced to 12 years in prison and immediately remanded into custody.

“The collaborations my office has forged with local and state law enforcement agencies help prevent methamphetamine from destroying families and ruining lives,” Raoul said. “I am committed to holding individuals accountable for their efforts to profit from these dangerous substances, and I will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to protect our communities.”

Following an investigation conducted by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team (TRIDENT), the Attorney General’s office charged Rogers with methamphetamine delivery. Raoul alleged that in November 2020, Rogers was involved in a conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. According to Raoul, an undercover agent with TRIDENT contacted Rogers via text messages and phone conversations, and Rogers agreed to sell methamphetamine to Rogers. Raoul alleged that the agent gave money to Rogers to buy the drugs, and Rogers coordinated the purchase.

“With the rise in methamphetamine in North Central Illinois, this arrest and guilty plea of a larger methamphetamine dealer helps in the effort to reduce the spread of this dangerous drug,” said TRIDENT Cmdr. Josh Boedigheimer. “The collective work of TRIDENT agents and the assistance of members of the Grundy County Proactive Unit as well as the Illinois Attorney General’s Statewide Grand Jury Bureau helped secure this successful outcome.”

Statewide Grand Jury Bureau Chief John Kezdy prosecuted the case for Raoul’s Statewide Grand Jury Bureau.
