Fioretti Receives Another High Profile Endorsement – Cook County State’s Attorney candidate Bob Fioretti continues to rack up high-profile endorsements, including from Democratic Party officials. Fioretti, the only civil rights attorney to ever run for State’s Attorney, acknowledged the endorsement of his former colleague, Alderperson and Committeeperson Roberto Maldonado. “Roberto Maldonado is an icon in the Puerto Rican community, was a tremendous public servant, and a valued friend and ally from my City Council days,” Fioretti said. “What Roberto and I know is that having safe streets is not a contest to see how many arrests and convictions are made. Public safety begins with great schools, affordable housing, and a good jobs program. This is what he and I fought so hard for on the City Council. One thing we have found is that if young people have a steady job working nearly 40 hours a week, they are too tired to commit crimes.”
“This is former Alderman Roberto Maldonado and I am endorsing Bob Fioretti for State’s Attorney. I served with Bob in the City Council for several years and he always was a reliable vote with respect to projects and issues important for my community. We fought together for affordable housing, great schools and safe streets. As independent Aldermen Bob and I voted no on irresponsible city budgets that raised property taxes.
Bob will be the first civil rights attorney ever to be State’s Attorney. That’s how we know Bob will be tough, smart AND fair on crime. I know our community usually votes for Democratic candidates and I’ve never asked anyone to vote for a Republican candidate before, however, this time our community needs to split our ticket and cross over. He is in touch and understands communities of color because he represented a community of color as a sitting Alderman. So I ask you for your vote and punch 55 for my friend and former colleague Republican Bob Fioretti for Cook County State’s Attorney.”
