Anjanette Young Endorses Democrat Us Congressional Candidate Pastor Chris Butler (Chicago, IL) — Anjanette Young, the high-profile victim of an inaccurate and inappropriate police raid, has endorsed Pastor Chris Butler candidate for the 1st Congressional District of Illinois. Pastor Chris Butler is also endorsed by the Illinois State Fraternal Order of Police. Anjanette Young believes that Pastor Butler has the experience and the skill set to address the public safety challenges and frustrations on both sides of the aisle.
Young states, “Pastor Chris is a man of faith, with a record of serving the community and building coalitions for over 25 years. I am aware with Pastor Chris’ work at the local, state, and national level, and I am confident that he will lead the district forward with the type of leadership that is needed at this time.” Pastor Chris founded the Chicago Peace Campaign to organize churches and faith organizations to combat violence in our communities, as well as helped launch the AND (&) campaign, a nonprofit organization which promotes civic engagement nationwide.
“We can not say that we are committed to families, and not committed to safety.” Says Pastor Butler. “We must be able to call a well-supported, well-equipped, well-trained police department to help us enforce the laws.” In addition, Pastor Chris has a vision to invest in prevention and intervention strategies to stop cycles of community violence.
Pastor Butler, whose name was drawn for the top spot on the IL-1 ballot, has been connecting with voters and communities since March of 2021. He is the Senior Pastor of the Chicago Embassy Church Network; he has launched various initiatives. For example, Pastor Butler worked in education reform as Deputy Campaign Manager for A+ Illinois and as Advocacy Director for New Schools for Chicago. He recently co-authored the award-winning book Compassion & Conviction.
