Fritz Kaegi’s Employee at the Cook County Assessor’s Office Charged by the Feds (Chicago, IL) — Federal prosecutors in Chicago charged an employee of Fritz Kaegi’s Cook County Assessor’s Office on July 6, 2022 with corruptly accepting bribes to cut property assessments.

The endemic corruption in the Cook County Assessor’s Office will never go away as long as the Assessor insists on trying to unsuccessfully replicate subjective market prices instead of using objective acquisition prices to derive assessments. We need to move from a subjective to an objective system of deriving valuations for tax purposes. Nico Tsatsoulis is the only candidate proposing that. Fritz Kaegi does not want to do that because that means less power for himself and his office to take care of the vested interests that support his candidacy. The way the Cook County Assessor’s Office is operating now, anybody with a little bit of money it seems like can walk into the office and have their assessment reduced. The only people that can eliminate corruption in Cook County are us the voters and this is why Nico is running against the corrupt Democratic machine and their millions of dollars.
As the Cook County Inspector General Patrick Blanchard wrote about Governor Pritzker when he pulled a fast one to avoid paying property taxes “the County ultimately fell victim to a scheme to defraud”. Fraudsters and the Democratic Party seem to go hand in hand in Illinois!

Nico Tsatsoulis, like hundreds of thousands of Cook County residents, is a victim of the existing subjective property valuation system. He is running on a $220 campaign budget against the multimillion-dollar interests that support Fritz Kaegi and his subjective system of arbitrarily derived assessments that allow his cronies and supporters to get the desired valuations against the interests of the poor and middle-class residents of Cook County.
