Toni Preckwinkle Declares Victory (Cook County, IL) — Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle declared victory in her re-election campaign and released the following statement:
“I extend my deepest gratitude to the voters of Cook County and I’m grateful they have entrusted me to run the nation’s second-largest county in the country for the past twelve years, and look forward to all the good work that lies ahead.”We built a strong campaign, with diverse endorsements from organizations and elected leaders throughout Cook County.

“In my 4th term, I will focus on the distribution of Cook County’s $1 billion in American Rescue Plan Act funding.

“We will launch our $42 million guaranteed income program, the nation’s largest, a first-of-its-kind program to abolish up to $1 billion in medical debt, and historic investments in mental and behavioral health services including Cook County Health’s new Department of Mental Health.

“These programs will supplement Cook County’s legacy commitment to public health and public safety.

“As Chair of the Cook County Democratic Party, we celebrate our Democratic Victories up and down the ballot in Cook County and across the State.”
